Katie has worked for the University of Edinburgh, Dublin City University and University College Cork in different research projects since 2020. She is also a children's rights practitioner and currently works as the Adviser - Children's Rights, Climate and Democracy for the Child Rights International Network (CRIN).

Katie holds an MSc in Childhood Studies and an MA (with Honours) in Social Anthropology and Sustainable Development from the University of Edinburgh. Her research focusses on child and youth participation in decision-making processes related to climate change, the environment and biodiversity.
