PDMA Issues Weather Alert As Rain And Snow Forecast For KP On November 45

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert to all district administrations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ahead of expected intermittent rain and snowfall across various parts of the province from November 4 to 5.

According to the PDMA, rain accompanied by thunderstorms and snowfall in upper hilly regions is likely in Upper and Lower Dir, Upper and Lower Chitral, Upper and Lower Kohistan, Kolai Pallas, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, and Mohmand districts.

Similarly, rain is also expected in Peshawar, Kohat, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, North and South Waziristan, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan.

The Met Office has warned that heavy rain and snowfall may trigger landslides in hilly areas, potentially leading to road blockages, particularly in Abbottabad, Battagram, Dir, Chitral, Kohistan, Kurram, Shangla, Swat, Torghar, and North Waziristan.

The PDMA has instructed district administrations to ensure the cleaning of drainage systems, maintain readiness of emergency response teams, and provide timely awareness to local residents and tourists.
Farmers and livestock owners have been advised to move their crops and animals to safer locations, while the public has been urged to avoid unnecessary travel during the adverse weather conditions.
The PDMA further stated that its Emergency Operation Center remains active 24 hours a day, and citizens can report any emergencies or seek assistance by calling the helpline 1700.
