 Kuwait FM Meets GFATM Chief

KUWAIT, Nov 3 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya met Monday, in presence of Waleed Al-Bahar, Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), with Roslyn Morauta, visiting Chair of the Board of Directors of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press statement that the meeting addressed the close relations between Kuwait and the GFATM, as well as discussions on current humanitarian developments in the region and the efforts undertaken by the Fund to combat these intractable diseases.
The statement added that the meeting underscored the importance of enhancing collective humanitarian action to eradicate these epidemics globally, with an emphasis on supporting international humanitarian initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of populations affected by these diseases.
The GFATM operates as a global partnership of governments, United Nations organizations, civil society groups, and the private sector, dedicated to implementing programs developed by international experts from the World Health Organization and specialized UN programs and agencies to combat these three diseases worldwide.
