Turkish Airline Announces Resumption of Flights to Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah

(MENAFN) Turkish Airlines, Türkiye’s national carrier, has resumed scheduled flights to Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, after suspending the route in April 2023.

In a statement released Monday, the airline noted that it already serves Baghdad, Najaf, Erbil, Basra, and Kirkuk, and with the reintroduction of Sulaymaniyah, its Iraqi destinations now total six.

Ahmet Bolat, chairman of the board of directors and executive committee of Turkish Airlines, highlighted the city’s significance: “Sulaymaniyah is one of the most important cities in the region with its natural beauty, deep-rooted history, and cultural richness.”

He further emphasized the broader impact of the flights, saying: “We are delighted to welcome our guests back to Sulaymaniyah with our safe, comfortable, and high service standards.” Bolat added that the expanded route network would “not only expand the flight network in the region but also contribute to strengthening economic and social ties between the two countries.”

Flights between Istanbul Airport and Sulaymaniyah International Airport will operate four times weekly—every Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday—before moving to daily service after March 27, 2026.
