Trump says he is not thinking about giving Ukraine Tomahawks
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he is not currently considering providing Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles, according to reports.
When asked aboard Air Force One if he planned to transfer the missiles to Ukraine, Trump responded, "No. Not really."
He also clarified that he does not intend to use frozen Russian assets as a bargaining tool, emphasizing that he is not part of the negotiations reportedly taking place between Europe and Russia.
Addressing the ongoing war in Ukraine, Trump remarked, "There's no final straw. Sometimes you have to let it fight out. And they're fighting and they're fighting it out," when questioned about what would convince him that Russia is unwilling to end the conflict.
The president further reiterated that he does not set deadlines in his stated fight against what he called “narco-terrorism”, avoiding questions regarding potential strikes on military installations in Venezuela.
On Friday, Trump had denied reports suggesting imminent military action against Venezuela, stating that he had not yet made any decisions on the matter.
When pressed about the possibility of US military involvement in Nigeria—after previously threatening action over the alleged “killing of Christians”—Trump refused to exclude any options, saying, "I envisage a lot of things."
Turning to domestic matters, Trump discussed the ongoing tariffs case before the US Supreme Court, describing it as "one of the most important decisions" in American history. He warned that, "We would suffer tremendously from a national security standpoint" if the US could not impose tariffs "freely, openly and in every way."
The remarks highlighted Trump’s ongoing focus on trade and foreign policy while signaling a cautious approach to expanding US military commitments abroad.
