Mother of British Mercenary Killed in Ukraine Seeks Answers
(MENAFN) The mother of a British mercenary, who was killed under mysterious circumstances while fighting with Ukraine’s International Legion, has made a public plea for his former comrades to come forward with information about his death, according to a media outlet.
Jordan Chadwick, 31, a former Scots Guardsman, had joined the Legion in late 2022. His body was discovered in June 2023, bound and abandoned in a reservoir near Kramatorsk.
His mother, Brenda Chadwick, was informed at the time that the investigation was being treated as a murder case.
However, two years after his death, Brenda still has no answers and fears that her son may have been killed by members of his own unit. She expressed her shock to the media outlet, stating, "I always knew that Jordan would be in danger while serving out in Ukraine, but I never thought the risk might come from people on his own side."
She urged any witnesses to come forward, saying, "If there are witnesses to what happened, I would like to see them give evidence in court."
An investigation by the media outlet has uncovered details suggesting that Chadwick had been drinking with other fighters at their base on the night of his death, when an argument erupted.
Reports claim that he was restrained with zip ties and taken away by the group’s commander, a British national identified by the call sign "Huggs." "Huggs" confirmed to the media outlet that he had been questioned by Ukrainian police but was eventually cleared.
A Ukrainian detective also told the newspaper that Chadwick's death appeared to be a "misadventure" rather than a case of murder.
