Alex Heffron
- PhD Candidate in Geography, Lancaster University
I am a first year PhD candidate at Lancaster University in geography, researching land use, agricultural transitions and ecological crisis. My research concerns the concept and practice of natural capital and focuses on how changes to subsidy schemes and regulations are affecting farmers in Wales and England.
I have a co-authored article on 'hinterlandisation' in the Architectural Design journal, a co-authored chapter on neoliberal Welsh farming policy, a forthcoming paper on land grabbing in Wales and have written for various online publications about food and farming systems.
I also help to run a small, mixed farm in the south west of Wales.
