Russia: Moscow Has Not Received Info. On Nuclear Tests
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
MOSCOW, Oct 30 (KUNA) -- Russia confirmed on Thursday that it has not received any notification from the United States regarding its intention to resume nuclear testing, stressing that Moscow "remains committed to halting such tests as long as other countries adhere to the same."
The Kremlin replied to a public statement made by US President Donald Trump "Moscow has no information indicating that any country is currently conducting nuclear tests", Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported."
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that "there are currently no plans for a phone call between President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump.
President Putin has repeatedly stated that Russia will act according to circumstances if any country abandons its commitment to halting nuclear tests, Peskov explained.
He underscored that the issue of strategic offensive missile treaties is entirely different from that of nuclear testing.
The Kremlin does not believe the world has entered a new phase of the arms race, and that the Burevestnik missile tests are by no means nuclear experiments," the statement added.
Earlier, the US president announced via his Truth Social platform that his country would immediately resume testing its nuclear weapons, without providing further details. (end)
