India Pledges Support To Afghanistan Amid Tension With Pakistan

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW DELHI, Oct 30 (KUNA) -- India on Thursday expressed support to Afghanistan as the latter's border tension with Pakistan escalated.
Indian Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a press briefing that India remains fully committed to the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence of Afghanistan.
"Pakistan thinks they can keep doing cross-border terrorism without being punished. We are committed to the sovereignty of Afghanistan," Jaiswal said.
The Indian statement came as peace talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Turkey this week failed and Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif threatened of a possible military attack inside Afghanistan. Asif also blamed Taliban regime of waging a proxy war against Pakistan on behalf on India. (end)
