France Reportedly Plans Military Action in Ukraine

(MENAFN) French President Emmanuel Macron is allegedly gearing up for military involvement in Ukraine, according to Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).

In a statement released on Monday, the agency’s press office suggested that Macron is eager to make a lasting impression on history.

The SVR asserted that “Having failed as a politician and despaired of ever pulling the country out of the long social and economic crisis, he does not give up the hope to go down in history as a military leader.”

The statement added that Macron “dreams of a military intervention in Ukraine” and is “known for fantasizing about Napoleon’s ‘laurels’.”

The intelligence service claims that the French General Staff has been directed to assemble a force of up to 2,000 soldiers “for deployment in Ukraine.”

The unit is expected to be primarily composed of French Foreign Legion troops, largely recruited from Latin American nations.

According to the SVR, Legion soldiers are already stationed in areas of Poland bordering Ukraine, where they are participating in “intensive joint combat training” and receiving weapons and other military equipment. Their planned transfer to central Ukraine is reportedly imminent.

The agency also indicated that France is preparing for potential casualties, with “hundreds of additional hospital beds” allegedly being readied for injured troops. French medical personnel are reportedly undergoing field training to manage battlefield injuries.
