Kazakh, Russian Presidents Discuss Preparations for Visit

(MENAFN) Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on the phone on Monday to review plans for Tokayev’s upcoming visit to Russia, set for next month.

The Kremlin confirmed the conversation in an official statement, noting that both leaders covered various ongoing bilateral matters, especially in preparation for the Kazakh president’s trip on November 12.

Kazakhstan’s presidential press office, Akorda, also released a statement highlighting that the two presidents focused on the arrangements for the visit.

The statement emphasized the significance of the upcoming discussions in Moscow for the continued growth of the strategic partnership and close relations between the two nations.

Additionally, the readout mentioned that Putin and Tokayev addressed several aspects of the current global situation, though no further details were provided.

The visit was initially revealed by Tokayev at the second Russia-Central Asia summit in Dushanbe on October 9. The two leaders had previously met in the Tajik capital during the October 10 summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Tokayev has emphasized that Kazakhstan, a former Soviet republic, views this visit as highly important. The trip will take place at Putin’s invitation, according to the Kazakh president.
