Calin Georgescu Urges Review of Romania’s Annulled Election

(MENAFN) Former Romanian presidential contender Calin Georgescu has appealed to President Nicusor Dan to disclose a report on the disputed annulment of the December 2024 election to both the United States and Israel for independent examination.

The conservative candidate was removed from the race by the Constitutional Court on grounds of alleged irregularities and foreign involvement—claims that Georgescu has firmly rejected.

Speaking to his supporters in Bucharest on Tuesday, Georgescu referenced a document that President Dan had reportedly shared with certain EU leaders, which supposedly explains why the election results were nullified.

“I publicly call upon [President Dan] to transmit the said report in its entirety, without omissions, to two states capable of independently verifying its content. To the White House, for the attention of President [Donald Trump] and Vice President [J.D. Vance], and to the State of Israel, for the attention of Prime Minister [Benjamin Netanyahu],” Georgescu declared.

The ex-candidate also pointed out that accusations of anti-Semitism “fabricated against me” by Romanian authorities would ensure Israel’s neutrality, thereby guaranteeing fairness.

Shortly after the annulment, media outlets revealed that the claims of irregularities and Russian interference cited by the Constitutional Court originated from a consulting firm linked to the ruling National Liberal Party.
