(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump is scheduled to land in South Korea on October 29 for a two-day trip to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, announced South Korea’s national security adviser, Wi Sung-lac, on Thursday.

During this visit, President Lee Jae Myung is anticipated to engage in summit discussions with Trump, according to media. The two nations are also in talks to establish a framework for South Korea’s ambitious $350 billion investment into the US economy, part of a new tariff agreement.

President Lee will host fellow APEC leaders on October 31 and November 1 in Gyeongju, a coastal city in South Korea’s southeast.

In parallel, Seoul is coordinating with Beijing to confirm the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping on October 30. Xi’s last trip to South Korea took place in 2014 under the administration of then-President Park Geun-hye. Trump’s previous visit to South Korea was in 2019 during his first term, when he met North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at the Demilitarized Zone.

While the White House has yet to release a full itinerary for Trump’s Asia tour, the president is expected to visit Malaysia, which currently chairs the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and Japan.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent revealed on Wednesday that Trump will stop in Japan before heading to South Korea for the APEC summit.

Trump has also confirmed plans to meet with Xi during his South Korea visit amid ongoing tariff negotiations between the US and China.

Adding to the diplomatic momentum, Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan stated on Tuesday that Trump “is looking forward to” witnessing the signing of a ceasefire agreement between Thailand and Cambodia in Kuala Lumpur, as Malaysia prepares to host the 47th ASEAN summit later this month.
