Discord reveals breach caused thousands of ID’s to get leaked

(MENAFN) Discord, the popular messaging and voice and video calling platform, disclosed that a recent security breach of a third-party customer service provider resulted in the exposure of approximately 70,000 government ID photos used for age verification, according to reports.

“Of the accounts impacted globally, we have identified approximately 70,000 users that may have had government-ID photos exposed, which our vendor used to review age-related appeals,” Discord spokesperson Nu Wexler told reporters.

Wexler added that Discord has reached out to all affected users and is collaborating with law enforcement, data protection authorities, and independent security experts to address the incident. The company has also ended its relationship with the vendor involved in the breach.

Earlier, on October 3, Discord confirmed that additional user information—including names, usernames, email addresses, the last four digits of credit cards, and IP addresses—may have been compromised during the attack.
