Britain Must Mean Something: JCAC Issues Statement After Yom Kippur Tragedy
This was not merely an assault on a place of worship-it was an assault on British identity, on the principle that all lawful citizens, regardless of faith, are equally part of our national fabric. The JCAC reaffirms its belief that Jewish Britons are not outsiders. They are us.
We mourn the loss of life. We honour the courage of those who responded. And we call upon all who serve Britain in good faith to reject division and reaffirm our shared duty to one another.
Our parents and grandparents did not endure war and hardship so that Britain might be given away on a whim. Citizenship must mean something. Service must mean something. Unity must mean something.
Today, we remember. Tomorrow, we continue our work.
