Dr Julian Hargreaves is a Senior Lecturer in Quantitative Sociology at the Department of Sociology and Criminology, City, University of London where he currently teaches on topics related to social science and policing. He is also an Affiliated Researcher at the Centre of Islamic Studies, University of Cambridge.

He holds a PhD in Applied Social Science and an MRes (Distinction) in Criminology from Lancaster University, a GDL and LPC from the University of Law and a BA (Hons) in Historical Studies from Manchester Metropolitan University.

His research interests include ethnic and religious minority communities in the UK, statistics, the criminal justice system and public sector, terrorism and counter-terrorism, and wider issues concerning prejudice, discrimination and social cohesion.

In a half-remembered previous life, he worked as a talent scout in the British music industry.
