DOHA: As part of the National Waste Segregation Program at Source, the General Cleanliness Department has distributed 1,556 blue recycling bins to households across Al Rayyan Municipality during the month of September.

The initiative covered several key areas, including New Al Rayyan, Old Al Rayyan, Al Wajbah, Rawdat Aba Al-Hiran, and South Muaither.

In addition to the recycling bins, an equal number of grey containers were also provided for the disposal of remaining organic waste.

The department confirmed that distribution will continue throughout October in Rawdat Aba Al-Hiran, Al Wajbah, and New Al Rayyan.

To date, a total of 5,624 blue recycling bins have been distributed within Al Rayyan Municipality alone.

This effort comes within the framework of Qatar's broader strategy to promote a culture of waste segregation at source and to advance the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 in the field of environmental sustainability.

The General Cleanliness Department has urged residents to actively participate in the programme by properly segregating their household waste and placing it in the designated bins, stressing that community cooperation is vital to the programme's success.
