OHCHR Warns: Taliban's Internet Blackout Has Extremely Serious Human Rights Ramifications


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GENEVA, Sept 30 (KUNA) -- The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on Tuesday warned of "extremely serious human rights ramifications" following the Taliban's nationwide internet shutdown across Afghanistan.
In a statement posted on X, OHCHR said the measure curtails the free flow of information crucial to everyday activities including access to essential services such as health education and banking.
OHCHR further cautioned about the impact of this decision on women and girls who have already been excluded from participation in public life and called for immediate reconnection. (end)
