Singapore, Indian Shipyards Forge Mou For Offshore Collaboration

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Sep 25 (KNN) A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Singapore's Seatrium Offshore Technology Pte Ltd (SOT) and India's Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), aiming to deepen cooperation in the offshore sector across Asia.

Under the agreement, the two firms will combine their strengths. Seatrium brings engineering excellence, advanced offshore technology, and specialised solutions, while Cochin Shipyard contributes its infrastructure, fabrication facilities, and ship-repair expertise.

A major focus of the partnership will be Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) projects for clients operating in Asia. The MoU also opens opportunities to expand into other important offshore markets in the region.

Winston Cheng, Senior Vice-President and Head of SOT, said this agreement marks a“strategic milestone” in Seatrium's expansion across Asia, with India positioned as a key long-term market.

He highlighted India's growing offshore energy sector and increasing demand for maritime infrastructure as strong reasons for collaboration.

Sivakumar A, General Manager of Ship Repair at CSL, said the MoU strengthens Cochin Shipyard's offshore presence and reflects confidence in Seatrium's global capabilities.

He noted that the two companies aim to deliver cost-effective and high-quality offshore solutions together.

This partnership builds on an earlier collaboration from November 2024, when Seatrium's U.S. subsidiary and CSL agreed to jointly design and supply equipment for jack-up rigs in India.

The MoU also aligns with India's growing energy needs. The International Energy Agency (IEA) projects that India will drive global oil demand growth by 2030, reaching 6.6 million barrels per day, highlighting the importance of strong offshore infrastructure.
