EU Extends Sanctions Against Individuals, Entities In Sudan For Another Year

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Sept 22 (KUNA) -- The Council of the European Union announced on Monday the extension of the EU restrictive measures against those responsible for destabilising Sudan and obstructing its political transition for one year, until October 10, 2026.
In a press release, the Council explained that the sanctions cover ten individuals and eight entities.
Those listed are subject to an EU-wide travel ban, the freezing of assets, and a prohibition on making funds or economic resources available to them, either directly or indirectly.
The EU noted that the war in Sudan, ongoing for over two years, has brutally impacted the lives of millions of civilians, with responsibility resting on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), and their respective affiliated militias.
In October 2023, the EU adopted a dedicated framework of restrictive measures in view of activities undermining the stability and political transition of Sudan.
This was followed by successive sets of restrictive measures against individuals and entities belonging or affiliated to the SAF and the RSF in January, June, and December 2024, and in July 2025.
On 11 April 2025, the EU High Representative issued a statement on behalf of the Union, reiterating its strong appeal to the warring parties for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, and urging them to negotiate in good faith for a sustainable peace that respects Sudan's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
