As Ukrinform reported, in July, the European Commission presented a legislative proposal aimed at completely ending the EU's dependence on Russian energy by 2027. Earlier, Donald Trump urged NATO allies to halt oil imports from Russia.

President von der Leyen has stated that the European Commission will propose accelerating the phase-out of Russian fossil fuels , while the next package of EU sanctions will target, among other areas, Russian crypto assets, the banking sector, and the energy industry.

Meanwhile, the United States is pressing its G7 allies to impose tariffs of up to 100% on China and India for purchasing Russian oil. This demand is likely to face resistance in the capitals of G7 countries. Representatives of the bloc are currently working on a package of proposals expected to be finalized within the next two weeks.
