EU Plans To Deliver 2 Million Rounds Of Ammunition To Ukraine By October Kallas

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was announced by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas during her address at the opening of a debate on Ukraine in the European Parliament, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“They have now also provided 80 percent of our 2 million rounds of ammunition target. We aim for 100% by October,” she said.

Speaking about the EU's overall support for Ukraine, Kallas emphasized that Europe has already provided nearly EUR 169 billion in financial support since the start of the full-scale war in 2022, including over EUR 63 billion in military assistance.

“This year alone, Member States will provide more than ever before – EUR 25 billion to date,” she stated.

Kallas noted three pillars of EU support for Ukraine: strengthening the Armed Forces of Ukraine, bolstering internal security and resilience through the EU civilian mission, and reinforcing Ukraine's defense industry.

She noted that Europe is the largest sponsor of Ukraine's defense sector, thanks to revenues generated from frozen Russian assets.

“Russian sovereign assets should remain immobilised until Russia stops its war of aggression against Ukraine and compensates Ukraine for the billions of euros of damage it has caused and keeps causing. This is what the European Council has stated. It is essential that we deliver on this commitment,” said the High Representative.

Separately, Kallas stressed that:“Ukraine's accession to the European Union is something that gives hope to the Ukrainian people, the possibility to live free and prosper again,” urging the opening of Cluster 1 in the EU accession negotiations.

“What Russia may have thought inevitable is far from it. Russia has not broken Ukraine's resolve and it must not break ours. For those who doubt, do not. Ukraine's security is Europeans' security. And so long as Russia pursues its illegal war, we must continue to fight,” Kallas concluded.

As reported by Ukrinform, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas stated that the European Union's message to Putin is clear: Russia will not win the war against Ukraine.
