Egypt, US Underline Ongoing Coordination To Curb Middle East Escalation

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Sept 8 (KUNA) -- Egypt and the US on Monday stressed the need to maintain close coordination to contain regional escalation and bolster security and stability, the Egyptian presidency said.
Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi met Commander of the US Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper to discuss bilateral ties and regional crises, with a focus on Gaza, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohammad Al-Shennawy said in a press statement.
Al-Sisi highlighted Egyptian-US-Qatari mediation aimed at securing an immediate ceasefire, the release of prisoners, and unhindered humanitarian access.
Egypt continued intensive efforts to de-escalate and revive a political process toward a just, lasting peace, he said.
The two sides also reviewed other regional files and pledged to keep working on sustainable political solutions that support development and prosperity, Al-Shennawy mentioned.
The meeting underscored the strategic nature of US-Egypt relations, with Al-Sisi pointing to the upcoming Bright Star 2025 exercises as evidence of close defense cooperation. (end)
