QNA Holds Specialised Course On News Verification
Doha, Qatar: Qatar News Agency (QNA) yesterday launched a specialised training course titled“News Verification”, as part of the training programmes organised by the QNA Training Center to develop the professional capabilities of media professionals and enhance their efficiency across various fields of journalism.
The three-day programme is being conducted by Ali Asraf, a media expert at QNA, with the participation of several QNA employees, along with staff from other media institutions and government entities.
The course focuses on strengthening participants' skills in media monitoring and journalistic verification amid the massive flow of information in the digital space and the resulting challenges related to the accuracy and reliability of media content.
Key topics include the concept and sources of journalistic verification, professional tools for media monitoring and content authentication, mechanisms for verifying news before and after publication, the use of artificial intelligence in verification processes, detection of fake news and fabricated content, and enhancing journalists' critical analysis and editorial judgment in handling information.
The programme also underscores the importance of adopting rigorous methodologies for gathering information, evaluating sources, and ensuring the production of reliable media content.
