Brazil’s Lula Pledges to Prioritize Multilateralism
(MENAFN) Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva reaffirmed Monday that his government will prioritize multilateralism in foreign policy, signaling opposition to any unilateral moves by the United States.
Speaking at a ceremony for the Butantan Institute in Sao Paulo, Lula emphasized the importance of collective international mechanisms established after World War II.
"It was multilateralism after World War II that created harmony between states and allowed us to live in peace until now," he said.
Lula stressed that Brazil rejects unilateralism based on the principle of "might makes right," underscoring the country’s commitment to diplomacy.
The president added that Brazil’s international actions are not aimed at direct confrontation, but rather focus on political dialogue and building global consensus.
