MFA: Ukraine Does Not See China As Security Guarantor

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was stated by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhii Tykhyi, at a briefing, reports a Ukrinform correspondent.

“We have repeatedly and clearly emphasized that we do not see these countries as potential security guarantors for Ukraine, because Russia is the aggressor state. Russia attacked Ukraine and therefore cannot be a guarantor of Ukraine's security as such. And we do not consider China a security guarantor for Ukraine. First of all, we are talking about the Coalition of the Willing,” he noted.

The Spokesperson also reiterated Ukraine's position that China should, in practice, adhere to its declared stance that it does not support Russia, the war, and stands for peace and resolution through dialogue.

“Because every time we find a component in a Russian drone manufactured in China, when Chinese citizens are captured by Ukraine's Defense Forces, when we see journalists' investigations, it becomes more and more difficult to believe that this position reflects the real state of affairs,” the diplomat added.

As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine does not consider China a possible security guarantor after the war, since such guarantees can only be provided by those countries that have been truly helping Ukraine since February 24, 2022.

On September 3, a large-scale military parade was held in Beijing to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky earlier noted that Vladimir Putin rejects all peace initiatives and will also try to use the meeting in China as an alleged approval for continuing the war.
