Valant Launches Secure AI-Powered Clinical Notes Feature Built For Behavioral Health
Unlike basic transcription tools, AI Notes Assist is designed to reflect clinical context and structure documentation. By using AI Notes Assist to clinically document patient sessions, providers can save up to 30 hours per month, allowing them to spend more time focused on patients and growing their practice.
“At Valant, our mission is to connect behavioral health patients and providers with the right care, at the right time, through software that improves outcomes for everyone,” said Ram Krishnan, CEO of Valant.“With AI, we're not just making existing workflows more efficient - we're unlocking entirely new possibilities that were previously out of reach due to cost or complexity. From real-time clinical insights to personalized support tools, AI allows us to build capabilities that enhance care quality and reduce clinician burden in ways that simply weren't feasible before. It's not a substitute for human connection - it's an amplifier of the empathy, insight, and expertise that define exceptional behavioral healthcare.”
As a workaround to save time, many providers use third-party AI tools to generate in-session therapy notes, and then copy them into their EHR platform, which risks security and patient privacy by keeping data in multiple systems. Valant's AI Notes Assist eliminates that extra step by fully integrating its AI-powered clinical documentation within Valant's secure EHR system. Audio recordings and transcripts are automatically deleted after the note is signed, and none of the data is used to train the AI.
“Initially, tech delays actually cost me time because my notes weren't getting signed, and I was already moving on to the next patient,” said Dr. Erin Knopf, MD, CEDS.“But with AI Notes Assist, the quality of the content has been phenomenal. I'm especially impressed by how well it captures tone and rapport from conversations. It's made a big difference for me.”
Built by behavioral health professionals for behavioral health professionals, AI Notes Assist acts as a clinical assistant supporting the unique documentation needs of the specialty. The feature assists, rather than replaces, clinical judgment, in turn strengthening the therapeutic connection between provider and patient.
