London: British clothing brand Topshop will once more appear in physical stores across the UK, five years after its parent company collapsed, retailer John Lewis said Wednesday.

The once-mighty Topshop brand moved fully online after owner Arcadia struggled to adapt to the retailer sector increasingly switching online, while it was hit hard by Covid lockdowns.

Department store John Lewis on Wednesday said Topshop items will be available in 32 of its UK stores from February.

Menswear brand Topman will be stocked in six.

Topshop clothes are currently sold on its own website and by online retailer ASOS, which bought Topshop in 2021 before selling a majority stake.

"Bringing Topshop and Topman back to high streets across the UK is a landmark moment, and we are thrilled to be their only nationwide store partner," said Peter Ruis, managing director of John Lewis.

As part of the brand's revival, Topshop started selling its clothes at central London department store Liberty in August.

Topshop was a go-to shopping destination for young women in the 2000s, gaining popularity thanks to high-profile collaborations, including with model Kate Moss.

But the Covid pandemic spelled the end for the Arcadia retail group, capping a fall from grace for owner Philip Green -- once dubbed "the king of the high street".
