Amman, Sept. 2 (Petra) – Director of Queen Rania Al Abdullah Center for Education and Information Technology, Munib Tashman, said the Ministry of Education's launch of Cybercrime and Bullying Awareness Project in Schools aims to raise awareness about cybercrime and bullying issues and maintain digital security in a world of rapid techn advances.
Deputizing for the Minister of Education in inaugurating the project's second phase Tuesday, he called for educating school students about cybercrime dangers and handling information online "with caution."
The initiative is implemented in partnership with National Committee for Women's Affairs and "My School" initiative, with support from the Cypriot Embassy in Jordan.
During the launching ceremony, held at Rufaida Al-Aslamiya Secondary Mixed School for Girls in Sahab district, Tashman added that training workshops seek to protect students from social media dangers and their social, moral, and behavioral problems, thanking all supporters for this initiative to achieve its goals.
In turn, Cypriot Ambassador to Jordan, Sevag Avedissian, said the project is receiving "significant" attention due to "sensitivity and severity" of the cybercrime and cyberbullying phenomena.
The diplomat added that this scourge is a global phenomenon, praising the collaborative approach of the project's implementers to ensure its success.
In the project's 1st phase implemented in 30 public schools across the Kingdom's three regions, 85 educational staff (teachers/counselor) were trained and 1, 200 students and scouts received awareness-raising sessions within framework of awareness activities.
