Gaza Genocide: Israel Kills Over 63,550 Palestinians

(MENAFN) At least 63,557 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s military campaign on Gaza since October 2023, according to a statement from the enclave’s Health Ministry on Monday, which also confirmed nine new deaths from starvation, including three children.

In the past 24 hours alone, 98 bodies were recovered and 404 others were reported injured, bringing the total number of wounded to 160,660 since the conflict began.

“Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” the ministry said, underscoring the mounting obstacles to humanitarian response efforts amid continued bombardment.

The statement also revealed that 46 Palestinians were killed and more than 239 injured by Israeli fire while attempting to access humanitarian aid in the last day. Since May 27, the death toll for those killed while seeking aid has climbed to 2,294, with 16,839 others wounded.

Malnutrition continues to claim lives at a growing pace. In the last day, nine more people, including three children, died due to starvation-related causes, the ministry said. That raises the cumulative toll from hunger since October to 348, with 127 of the victims being children.

Since March 2, Israel has enforced a complete closure of Gaza’s border crossings, cutting off vital supplies to the besieged territory of 2.4 million people. A UN-backed food security assessment has confirmed famine conditions in northern Gaza and warns that the crisis is expected to spread southward by the end of September.

Hostilities escalated again on March 18, when the Israeli military resumed operations in Gaza following the collapse of a truce and prisoner exchange brokered earlier in January. Since then, at least 11,426 people have been killed and 48,619 injured, the ministry reported.

International legal pressure on Israel continues to intensify. In November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over its conduct in the enclave.
