Qatar Bag Nine Medals At Arab Junior Athletics Championships
Doha: The Qatari athletics team concluded a successful campaign at the 11th Arab Junior Championships in Tunisia, raising their medal tally to nine – four gold, two silver, and the bronze as the event wrapped up yesterday.
Athletes from as many as 15 countries participated in the event.
Qatar's gold medals came from standout performances by Saleh Mahmoud (shot put), Younis Al Balushi (pole vault), Mubarak Saeed (1,500m), and Abdul Razzaq Idris (400m hurdles).
Silver medals were secured by Timo Juma in the 100m sprint and Abdullah Al Abdullah in the pole vault. The bronze medalists included Hussein Mohammed (110m hurdles), Saleh Mahmoud (discus throw), and Timo Juma (200m).
The Qatari delegation featured a group of promising athletes competing in various track and field events, including Samer Hussein (1,500m), Timo Juma (100m, 200m), Idris Abkar and Hussein Mohammed (110m hurdles), Abdul Razzaq Idris and Abkar Idris (400m hurdles), Mubarak Saeed (1,500m), Abdullah Al Abdullah and Younis Al Balushi (pole vault), and Saleh Mahmoud (shot put, discus throw).
