CII Advocates Trade Diversification And Strengthened Global Partnerships Amid US Tariff Uncertainties

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Aug 28 (KNN) The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has outlined a comprehensive strategy to address global trade uncertainties stemming from US tariffs, emphasising the need for trade diversification, promotion of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and agricultural strengthening.

Speaking on Wednesday, CII President Rajiv Memani characterised the current challenges as opportunities for strategic transformation, stating that it is time to turn these obstacles into advantages through diversified trade relationships, enhanced MSME support, agricultural development, and the formation of new global alliances.

Memani emphasized the critical importance of quality enhancement and technological advancement for Indian industry competitiveness.

He noted that Indian businesses must prioritise investments in quality improvement, brand development, and technology adoption to establish their products and services as indispensable components of the global market.

This strategic approach aims to strengthen India's position in international commerce despite prevailing trade tensions.

CII President Designate R Mukundan reinforced the organization's commitment to supporting India's agricultural and manufacturing sectors, particularly MSMEs.

He expressed confidence that through coordinated policy support and industry unity, India would successfully navigate current tariff challenges and emerge with enhanced economic resilience.

This unified approach reflects the confederation's strategy of leveraging collective industry strength to overcome external trade pressures.

At the CII India-Africa Business Conclave, Memani highlighted the strategic significance of Indo-African economic partnerships in the current global context.

The partnership between India and Africa encompasses diverse areas of cooperation, including digital public goods development, technology integration in manufacturing processes, alignment of financial inclusion initiatives with government policies, and the creation of relevant digital infrastructure systems.

These collaborative efforts represent a comprehensive approach to economic partnership that extends beyond traditional trade relationships.

The ongoing Pan Africa e-Network Project continues to facilitate tele-education and tele-medicine services, connecting African hospitals and educational institutions with Indian expertise and providing continent-wide access to specialised knowledge and medical consultation services.

CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee highlighted the positive impact of recent Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) on India's global economic integration strategy.

He noted that these agreements have created substantial new opportunities and represent a strategic pivot toward deeper international economic engagement, enabling Indian industry to expand its global presence and establish stronger economic partnerships worldwide.

This development reflects India's broader commitment to enhanced international trade cooperation and economic diplomacy.
