Army Chief Meets Egyptian Defence Leaders On Military Cooperation

Amman, August 24 (Petra) – Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Hunaiti met Sunday with Egyptian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief and Minister of Defence and Military Production, Lieutenant General Abdul Majeed Saqr, at the Egyptian Ministry of Defence.
Also present was the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa.
Hunaiti was welcomed with a formal military reception and inspected the honour guard upon his arrival.
The meeting focused on enhancing military and security cooperation between Jordan and Egypt, building on the deep-rooted strategic and historical ties between the two nations.
Discussions centered on aligning visions and strategies in light of ongoing regional and international developments.
Both sides explored avenues for increased collaboration, including the exchange of expertise, joint training exercises and strengthened coordination across various military sectors all aimed at bolstering regional security and stability.
Hunaiti expressed appreciation for Egypt's commitment to fostering joint Arab military cooperation. He underscored the importance of continued collaboration between the Jordanian and Egyptian armed forces to further common interests and regional integration.
Saqr, in turn, praised the strong political and military relations between the two countries. He highlighted Jordan's key role in maintaining regional security and commended its humanitarian efforts, affirming the deep ties between Egyptians and Jordanians.
The meeting was attended by senior commanders and officers from both armed forces, as well as the Jordanian military attaché in Egypt.
