Erdogan discusses Russia, Ukraine advancements with Rutte
(MENAFN) According to Türkiye’s Communications Directorate, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke by phone on Tuesday evening with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to review progress in the ongoing peace process between Russia and Ukraine.
The call reportedly took place while Rutte was returning from a summit with U.S. President Donald Trump and European Union leaders. “NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte called President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his way back from a summit with the US President (Donald Trump) and EU leaders,” the directorate stated.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination, highlighting Türkiye’s central position “as one of NATO’s most important” members. They also noted Ankara’s strategic role in ensuring Black Sea stability.
The conversation additionally touched on possible frameworks for lasting and credible security guarantees as part of the broader peace efforts.
