Unexploded Ordnance Explosion Kills One, Injures Seven in Iran
(MENAFN) A deadly explosion caused by leftover unexploded ordnance from the recent 12-day conflict with Israel claimed one life and wounded seven in Iran’s western Lorestan province, according to a local news agency.
The incident occurred Tuesday evening in Beyranshahr city. All the injured victims were children and adolescents who were immediately hospitalized, the news agency reported. Authorities warned the number of wounded could rise.
This tragedy follows a violent escalation that began on June 13, when Israel launched extensive airstrikes targeting multiple sites across Iran, including nuclear and military facilities. The attacks resulted in the deaths of senior commanders, nuclear scientists, and numerous civilians. Iran retaliated with several waves of missile and drone strikes against Israel, inflicting casualties and damage.
After 12 days of intense clashes, a ceasefire between Iran and Israel was agreed upon on June 24.
