
Mumbai Monorail Horror: 582 Panicked Passengers Rescued Through Broken Windows
A Monorail train halted in Mumbai on Tuesday evening due to a major technical snag, causing passengers inside to panic, suffocate. All 582 passengers stuck in the train were rescued by the Mumbai Fire Brigade of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), reported ANI.
Videos published by ANI show passengers being rescued through broken windows of the train, which runs on an elevated track. Out of 582 rescued passengers, 23 who suffered from suffocation were treated onsite. Two patients were sent to Sion Hospital.
Recommended For YouEyewitnesses quoted by ANI said the main problem that the stranded passengers faced inside the coaches was suffocation. Some panic-stricken passengers were even ready to jump off on the ground below, PTI reported.

A senior official added that the fire department even spread jumping sheets on the ground in case any passenger jumped.
A passenger rescued from the monorail that was stuck for more than three hours on Tuesday said the people inside were“mostly patient”, but the senior citizens and children panicked in particular.
The train had stopped around 6:15pm IST near Mysore Colony between Chembur and Bhakti Park, according to the BMC. The breakdown occurred due to a power supply failure caused by overcrowding, which exceeded the train's designed capacity.
Passengers on the monorail contacted the BMC's helpline number for immediate assistance. A medical team from the municipal corporation was present at the scene with ambulances. Six individuals who felt unwell in the monorail were treated on the spot in the ambulance and later sent home.
Another Monorail train stopped midway as well, with 200 passengers on board. The train stopped between Acharya Atre and Wadala Mono Rail Station at 7.33pm IST. The passengers were evacuated after the train was towed back to the nearby Wadala station, NDTV reported.
