Landslides, Flash Floods Claim Sixty Lives in Nepal

(MENAFN) The death toll from widespread landslides and flash floods in Nepal has surged to 60, local media reported on Tuesday.

According to media, the victims include 19 men, 26 women, and 15 children, with the information coming from Armed Police Force (APF) spokesman Shailendra Thapa.

Torrential rains have wreaked havoc across the country, including the capital, Kathmandu, leading to severe flooding in several regions.

The eastern Ilam district has borne the brunt of the disaster, where 37 people have lost their lives due to landslides, and many more have sustained injuries.

Rescue operations continue as emergency teams work to reach those stranded by the ongoing disaster.

Since Friday, relentless rainfall has disrupted life across Nepal, triggering landslides and floods that have blocked key highways and roads, further complicating relief efforts.
