Russian Officials Criticize Poland’s OSCE Visa Revocation
(MENAFN) Russia has sharply criticized Poland’s move to block its delegation from attending an Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) conference, with Russian Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova arguing that the decision reflects Warsaw's disregard for peace and collaboration in Europe.
According to the Russian Public Institute of Electoral Law (ROIIP), Poland revoked the visas of its experts who were scheduled to join the Warsaw Human Dimension Conference, an event organized by the OSCE.
The visa cancellations came just before the start of the meeting, and no justification was given by the Polish side, the institute stated.
Responding to the development, Zakharova voiced her disapproval in comments to a news agency, declaring that “the authorities in Warsaw have long been engaged in destructive activities aimed at undermining and decimating the very essence of the OSCE.”
She criticized Poland’s behavior as detrimental to the organization’s core mission.
Zakharova highlighted that the OSCE was formed over 50 years ago to “promote security and cooperation” throughout Europe.
However, she argued that the current Polish administration appears unwilling to embrace those objectives.
"They apparently do not need this organization. They do not need the spirit and letter of the agreements laying its foundation,” she emphasized.
She further accused Warsaw of continuously engaging in “endless manipulative actions” that she said have become a defining trait of the Polish leadership.
Instead of persisting with such behavior, Zakharova urged Poland to be transparent about its position and to “understand where this is going to lead.”
