Paras Performs Life-Saving CRT-D Procedure On Brazilian Patient

The patient had been admitted in a critical state with a severely weakened heart, functioning at only 10–15% capacity , complicated further by Left Bundle Branch Block (LBBB) and a QRS duration of 180 milliseconds . The medical team initially placed the patient under intensive anti-heart failure therapy , which included the use of apixaban (a direct oral anticoagulant) . Within four weeks, the treatment successfully dissolved the clots. However, because of the persistent electrical conduction abnormality and the severely compromised pumping function, the doctors proceeded with a CRT-D implantation . The device works by restoring coordinated heart contractions and has the ability to deliver life-saving shocks if dangerous arrhythmias occur.
