House Democrats pressures Trump to end conflict in Gaza
(MENAFN) Four House Democrats have urged President Donald Trump to work toward ending the war in Gaza by bringing all involved parties back to the negotiating table.
Representatives Gregory Meeks, Rosa DeLauro, Jim Himes, and Jamie Raskin sent a letter to Trump expressing a strong sense of urgency and moral responsibility. They highlighted the severe humanitarian crisis and growing geopolitical instability caused by the ongoing conflict.
The lawmakers emphasized that Israel’s main military goals in Gaza have already been met, warning that continuing the fight could worsen regional tensions, deepen the humanitarian disaster, and jeopardize the long-term security of both Israelis and Palestinians.
They called on Trump to engage Israel, Palestinian leaders, regional stakeholders, and the US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to resume peace negotiations immediately. Additionally, they urged that securing a lasting ceasefire should be central to diplomatic efforts.
The letter also stressed that Gaza must be returned to civilian Palestinian control without Hamas, and strongly opposed any plans to forcibly displace Palestinians from the area.
