Record number of recipients includes first EDs in Montana, Saudi Arabia to be honored
SCHAUMBURG, Ill., July 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Emergency Nurses Association on Wednesday announced a record 96 Lantern Awards for emergency departments that have demonstrated outstanding leadership, practice, education and advocacy that resulted in improved patient care and staff well-being.
"These recipients demonstrate excellence in practice, interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation that make their departments exceptional places for patients receiving care as well as for the staff working in them," said ENA President Ryan Oglesby, PhD, MHA, RN, CEN, CFRN, NEA-BC.
Among the notable recipients this year are several first-time and five-time recipients, including:
-
Almoosa Specialist Hospital Emergency Department, the first emergency department in Saudi Arabia to be recognized.
Billings Clinic Emergency Department and Level I Trauma Center, the first hospital in Montana to apply for and receive a Lantern.
Bethesda North Hospital Emergency Department – TriHealth, a department recognized with a Lantern in all five award cycles it has applied.
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite Emergency Department, another five-time recipient.
"As I called many of these departments to let them know they were being recognized, it was a treat to hear the excitement and pride these nurses have for their teams," Oglesby said. "They show such amazing energy, talent and commitment to the specialty."
ENA announced the first Lantern Awards in 2011 and each year continues to recognize emergency departments that demonstrate exceptional and innovative leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research. The ENA Lantern Award Committee reviews and scores each application and selects the recipients for a three-year cycle, after which time departments may apply again.
