644 Families Exit National Aid Program After Securing Jobs Through Government Platform

Amman, July 21 (Petra) – A total of 644 families have exited the National Aid Fund (NAF) support program after members of these households secured employment through the National Employment Platform, the Fund's Director General, Khitam Shneikat, announced on Monday.
According to a NAF statement, the Fund now covers 7 percent of the new employees' social security contributions for one year in an effort to encourage beneficiaries to take up formal job opportunities.
Shneikat noted that beneficiaries are granted a one-year grace period during which the income from employment or social security contributions is excluded from the household's income calculation used to determine aid eligibility.
She also highlighted that families starting home-based income-generating projects are exempt from having their new income counted for a two-year period. This measure aims to promote self-reliance and encourage sustainable livelihoods.
An additional 1,133 families have found ongoing employment opportunities through the same platform, Shuneikat said, emphasizing the Fund's strategic shift toward economic empowerment rather than reliance on direct financial assistance.
