Israel Launches Attacks on Houthi Positions
(MENAFN) The Israeli military initiated a new series of air raids on Monday, targeting Houthi-controlled facilities at the Port of Al Hudaydah in western Yemen.
According to Defense Minister Israel Katz, the operation was undertaken to obstruct “any attempt to rebuild terror infrastructure that was attacked previously."
He further stated that “Yemen will be treated like Tehran.
The Houthis will pay heavy prices for firing missiles at the State of Israel,” signaling a hardline stance against the group’s ongoing aggression.
The Israeli army reported the destruction of what it described as Houthi military assets at the port, which authorities in Tel Aviv allege is being used as a conduit for Iranian weapon shipments and to coordinate hostile actions against Israel.
The military clarified that the airstrikes hit engineering machinery used for reconstruction efforts, as well as fuel depots, maritime vessels, and armaments.
The attacks were acknowledged by a media outlet run by the Houthis, though it did not disclose any information regarding casualties or the extent of the destruction.
This recent escalation marks the 12th series of Israeli assaults on Yemeni territory since the Gaza conflict reignited on October 7, 2023.
In response to renewed Israeli military actions in the Gaza Strip beginning in March—following a fragile two-month truce—the Houthis have stepped up their missile and drone offensives aimed at Israel.
