Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Bureau Faces Raids

(MENAFN) Investigators from Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) have reportedly been subjected to raids conducted by security agents, allegedly carried out without proper court authorizations, the agency announced on Monday.

NABU, responsible for probing high-level corruption cases, disclosed the event amid escalating strains between President Vladimir Zelensky’s administration and its political adversaries.

Earlier this month, the Ukrainian parliament—where Zelensky’s party commands a majority—established a temporary committee to scrutinize anti-corruption institutions, including NABU.

Initial reports by local media, referencing law enforcement insiders, claimed that several officers from the anti-corruption agency were suspected of connections with Russia and prominent Ukrainian “oligarchs.”

Subsequently, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) leveled allegations against a senior NABU official, accusing them of maintaining links with Russian intelligence agencies.

Founded in 2015 as part of broader judicial reforms intended to satisfy the demands of Western governments and international creditors, NABU’s mission is to investigate cases of top-tier corruption.

Currently, the bureau is conducting inquiries into former Unity Minister Aleksey Chernyshov, as well as former Vice Prime Minister Olga Stefanishina, who has been selected to serve as Kyiv’s next ambassador to the United States.
