Germany supports Israel by continuously supplying them with weapons
(MENAFN) Germany has continued supplying military equipment to Israel in recent months, even as concerns grow internationally over potential acts of genocide in Gaza, according to newly released government data.
Between January 1, 2024, and June 26, 2025, the German government authorized military exports to Israel totaling €250.5 million (around $290 million). The figures show that in 2024 alone, export licenses worth €161.1 million (approximately $186.5 million) were approved, with an additional €28 million ($32.5 million) approved during the first quarter of 2025.
These numbers were published in response to a formal inquiry by the opposition Left Party, which has called for an immediate suspension of arms shipments to Israel.
Germany has historically maintained strong political and military ties with Israel, often citing its moral responsibility stemming from the Holocaust and its World War II history as a reason for continued support.
Military exports to Israel were temporarily halted last year after Nicaragua brought a case against Germany at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), accusing it of aiding genocide in Gaza. However, Berlin resumed arms transfers after it reportedly received written guarantees from Israeli authorities assuring compliance with international law. Officials also pointed to perceived threats from Iran as a further reason to continue military support.
