Syria Urges UN Security Council to Stop Israeli Attacks
(MENAFN) On Wednesday, Syria appealed for swift involvement from the United Nations Security Council to halt the continuing Israeli assaults on its land.
The call came amid rising tensions and ongoing military actions affecting several areas within the country.
In an official declaration, the Syrian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the Israeli bombardments targeting both the capital city, Damascus, and the southern province of Suwayda.
These actions were described as “a flagrant violation of the UN Charter and international humanitarian law,” highlighting the severity of the situation and the legal implications of the strikes.
The ministry urged the global community, with particular emphasis on the UN Security Council, “to assume its responsibilities and take urgent and concrete measures to put an end to the repeated Israeli aggression against the territory of a sovereign state and UN member.”
The statement stressed the need for immediate and effective steps to be taken in order to safeguard Syria’s sovereignty and prevent further escalation.
