Algerian, Belgian Fms Discuss Bilateral Relations, Regional Developments


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ALGIERS, July 14 (KUNA) -- Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmad Attaf met on Monday with his Belgian counterpart Maxime Prevot to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and the latest developments regarding the Palestinian issue and the situation in the region.
In a statement, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs Ahmad Attaf received Monday at the Ministry's headquarters Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, and Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of Belgium, Maxime Prevot, who is on an official visit to Algeria.
The statement explained that "Attaf held a one-on-one meeting with his Belgian counterpart, followed by an extended working session with the participation of members of both delegations." It added that the meetings "provided an opportunity to review the state of friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries and to explore ways of advancing them to broader horizons."
The statement further noted that both sides agreed on the need to take concrete steps to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly by activating follow-up mechanisms, reviewing the legal framework, and encouraging interaction between business communities to seize potential partnership opportunities in sectors such as renewable energy, transport, mining, food industries, and pharmaceuticals.
On the multilateral front, the two ministers addressed "partnership relations between Algeria and the European Union and joint efforts aimed at promoting peace, security, and sustainable development in the Euro-Mediterranean space."
According to the statement, they also exchanged views on a range of current international and regional issues, particularly the developments in the Palestinian issue, the situation in the Sahel region, and the Russia-Ukraine war. (end)
