PKK's Leader Ends Armed Struggle Against Turkiye

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISTANBUL, July 9 (KUNA) -- Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Ocalan declared on Tuesday the end of the armed struggle against Turkiye, underscoring the full transition to working diplomatically and politically.
Ihlas News Agency reported a recorded video of Ocalan affirming his party's readiness to discard all their weapons as he called on the Turkish Parliament to form a committee to oversee this peaceful political transition.
Ocalan said that the PKK has abandoned the 'separation agenda' seeking a peaceful and diplomatic path to their right within the Turkish state, which he referred to as a "historic win".
The Jailed PKK leader was detained in 1999, yet his influence on his fighters and party members has been as great as ever.
In May, the PKK dissolved itself to end the armed fighting with Turkiye following a devastating battle that was reported to be the worst in four decades. (end)
