Oil, Energy Ministers Arrive To OPEC 9Th Int'l Seminar

VIENNA, July 9 (KUNA) -- Ministers of Oil and Energy began arriving to Hofburg Palace in Vienna, the Austrian capital, to attend the ninth International OPEC Seminar, launching today Wednesday.
The two-day seminar, will focus on the changing energy landscape, discuss the growing challenges in the sector and the role of oil in ensuring a sustainable and fair energy future amidst geopolitical, economic and climate changes.
A statement by the seminar's media department mentioned that the first day will also include an opening ceremony for the exhibition section where a number of establishments and specialized companies are taking part.
The official opening ceremony will take place in the main hall followed by a preliminary session on the sector's most notable challenges.
The first ministerial session, Oil Markets: Energy Security, Growth and Prosperity, will revolve around oil as the main energy source for the global economy.
As for the high-level roundtable, it will delve into immediate prospects and longer-term horizons of global energy markets.
The seminar's first day will also include a second ministerial session on mobilizing finance to boost investments in energy as estimates indicate that until the year 2050 a cumulative USD 17.4 trillion in oil investments alone would be required to ensure that demand is sufficiently met.
Three other roundtables will be held discussing organizational policies for a fair energy future, challenges related to investment, developing countries augmenting needs and mechanisms addressing supply shortage.
The first day will conclude with a gala dinner attended by senior political and economic personalities as well international organization representatives.
The second day of the seminar will include sessions on innovation, transformation within the energy sector, as well as reviewing opportunities and challenges in context of technological and digital changes. (end)
