Kremlin Awaits Kyiv’s Response on Istanbul Talks
(MENAFN) Russia is continuing to wait for Ukraine’s reply on suggested dates for the upcoming round of one-on-one discussions set to take place in Istanbul, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Tuesday.
"As soon as the dates have been agreed upon, which we hope will happen soon, we will inform you immediately," Peskov mentioned during a press conference in the Russian capital.
The initial two sessions of face-to-face negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv — marking the first in more than three years — occurred in May and June, respectively.
When questioned about recent comments from the United States and the European Union concerning increased military support for Ukraine, Peskov asserted that such rhetoric highlights a disinterest in seeking peaceful solutions.
Addressing reports from the media that Washington has allegedly paused certain weapons deliveries to Ukraine, Peskov noted that no definitive proof has yet been established due to contradictory accounts.
"It is evident that deliveries are ongoing, and equally clear is Europe's active engagement in supplying weaponry to Ukraine. These actions clearly run counter to efforts aimed at fostering peace. Thus, the path chosen by European leaders appears deliberately designed to perpetuate hostilities rather than facilitate reconciliation," he emphasized.
At the same time, Moscow holds US President Donald Trump and his administration’s initiatives for a peaceful resolution in high regard, Peskov added, expressing optimism about the potential for reviving diplomatic ties with the United States.
